Rock River Drift 10/18/2026

Rock River Drift 10/18/2026. It was a better day on this morning. While running up river predawn I looked and saw an eagle on logger island, that was a good sign, I hadn’t been seeing many after the loggers came around. There was a 4 year old who has been hanging around for years. I thought about getting a photo, but it was too dark. Then I looked ahead and there was a large buck along the river and lighter sky in back drop, but he moved before I could get the camera going. I did get photos of him that I lightened.

I saw one Blue Heron while running up river and got photos of one when I drifted. The heron were spooky and most moved to other channel away from the chainsaw noise. I could here the chainsaws start up. I saw one juvenile eagle that flew overhead pretty close, that was great. He left the area. I didn’t see anything until I got way past the logging island, down by the eagle nest area and I did get photos of the female who is pretty tolerant of me at the nest area.
