2022 Index

A few months in 2021 and 2022 were exceptional wildlife years. 2023 and 2024 were also strong, but you can see the shift starting after the nesting failures. Wildlife did great for a while, and now most of it is hard to find.

June 2022 is when I upgraded my camera to a canon R5 with an rf 100-500 lens. It worked so well I had to buy another and retire my 7dII cameras. The year started out with great eagle numbers at the lower dam. February was cold and so I didn’t get out on the river, but did get a few photos. March was goo, April it we had a lot of cloudy days. Then in May had abundant wildlife and I started looking into the mirrorless cameras.

In June I did order my first R5 and that was a game changer, I could see the results before I even pressed the shutter, which allowed me to shoot in full manual, with 3 back button focuses. June was excellent, and it was good all the rest of the year except November when it was cloudy most days.

Boat traffic was low on the Rock and I started seeing what I was missing, Owls, Fox, Hawks and 2 Eagle nests.
