Fishing in Crowds

Walleye Fishing in tailwaters and deep holes can be hard if you are the only boat out there. Fish could be anywhere, at any depth, any ledge and they may not even want what you’re using for lures to find them. If boats are around, that helps everyone get an idea of where fish are and patterns. It doesn’t mean they found fish for you so you can push them off the spot as so many think they can do. The key is to use the knowledge, what depth, which ledges and what colors, action and speed, then go fishing. Usually when the guy who caught one doesn’t catch anymore, he will and should move on and keep looking, not trying to block others from catching fish. If someone does get something going he has every right to keep on catching in a small area.

A lot of guys, maybe most, go out and look to see where other boats are and that is where they are going. It can take days, weeks even to get something going. Then they say “why should I look when you already did?” That is just dumb and people like that should not even be out there. But they are out there and they buy big fancy walleye boats to look impressive.
