May was a busy month with 6 pages of about 25 each. There was 3 Great Horned Owl chicks hanging around. They are really hard to spot, even if they are right in front of you. If they don’t move, you won’t spot them.
I found a Redtail Hawk nest that I could see if I lined up just right between the trees. There wasn’t much to see at the nest, too far away, but I was seeing a lot of Hawk activity when the fledged. There was lots of Racoon with babies. After trappers came around, I rarely see Raccoons or any mammals. By now ducks were so used to seeing me that the chicks would swim up to me. I was spotting a Red Fox. I was also seeing a lot of wild Turkeys.
Lots of songbirds around all year. Nighthawks were feeding on insects hatching in shallow areas with lots of current. Those guys are really hard to follow. I got a lot of picks of them eating the insects in flight. Stormy weather made for some nice sky photos.
